I only use that feature for station mode, all M5 access points for my system are set to use 1 channel at 40Mhz bandwidth (it's a backhaul). As a just in case, I set the station end for all freqs just so they can move with the AP in case I need to move it. (Prevents a truck roll)

Uh? I don't see a choice for multiple freqs, plus, other radios
on same tower are on other channels. This is Ubiquiti equipment,
pbe m5 400 dishes. What I have been fighting is a radio that has
decided to do auto mode on it's own and landing 2 channels away
from another radio and then the screaming phone calls about the
movies that won't download. What causes this, anybody know

DFS channels it will have to vacate, yes.

I suggest setting multiple frequencies on the AP so it cycles
    through them.

two issues: I've got some m5 gear that seem able to change
        channels
after install on their own. I've found a couple that were in
        auto mode
(never allowed here) and a few more that were in not normal
        channel
selections. Does this happen as a result of firmware updates?

I've noticed on the newer radios they have a wider range of
        channel
selections, but this seems weird as another new one out of
        same parts
order pile won't have the same range. I'll set the access
        point for
channel 37 and go over to the receive station and it won't
        see it.
Cannot connect them, the station will only go to 147.
