I'm not sure exactly what, but I got it mostly working after installing something from the proposed PPA shortly after Precise was released. Initially, it didn't seem to be working completely for me though. For example, I'd be in a message in Thunderbird, I'd type "move", I'd arrow down to one of the options, press enter and nothing would happen except the HUD dialog would go away. I just tried it again though, and it does seem to be working.
