Yours Sincerely and With Best Wishes, PEW { Peter Eric Williams aka 'pew' } from North Hobart, Tasmania, Australia ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: pew_from_hobart <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 22 Jan 2008 03:31 Subject: I'm a Linux UBUNTU newbie and I would like to meet other UBUNTU users!!! To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Melissa Draper, Hello Melissa, I found your email address here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MelissaDraper Please do not delete this email without replying to me!!! *SMILE* I live in a rented unit in North Hobart, Tasmania { Australia ! } with my cat!!! I have a tendency to waffle on in my emails. Basically I'm fairly new at UBUNTU and I have been using it for several months { not sure exactly how long ! } I currently use Linux UBUNTU 7.10 'Gutsy Gibbon' (IIRC). Previously I was using UBUNTU Christian Edition. And before that I used Micro$oft Windows XP Home Edition. I have stopped using Win XP because... to be honest I was feed-up with constantly needing to check for viruses and spyware and do software upgrades etc etc ... & even when I was doing everything okay my system (with Win XP) was not performing very well. When I installed UBUNTU on my computer I vowed never to install Windows XP or any version of Mirco$oft Windows Operating System. Partly this is because (a) my computer only has a 40 GB HDD (which I know is small by today's standards) & (b) because I have grown to loath M$ Windows operating systems. I have too many bad memories/experiences with being a WIndows user and having my system perform very sluggishly and even needed to re-install Windows. What I would really like is to have some kind of network of fellow UBUNTU users so that we could meet for a coffee or whatever and help each other out. I have also been a member of the Hobart PC Group Inc (and I intend to re-join shortly). I have sent a message to the Tasmanian Linux User Group Inc -- several days ago... but so far I have not received a reply to that message. I don't drive so I rely on public transport (buses and taxis) or lifts with friends.
