That makes sense.........I think. :-)
It seems quite bizarre that HP doesn't support OpenOffice docs in it's
ePrint capability (I checked the wiki and some forums and you are
correct, although many complain about it) but it does support them when
sending to it's ePrint Public Printing locations!
What the?

It prints OO docs fine, but it won't accept them as printable if you
email the document to the printer instead of printing directly from
the PC.

That sounds weird that it won't print OO docs Boden, my HP's have
always printed any type of document. Do you have hp-lip installed?
Rather than wait for the mods, here is what I posted earlier:
I only use HP printers because I find they have the best support
for Linux and a system tray app that works well. I have been
using Ubuntu for about 7 years and HP printers (wireless and
cabled) for about 5 of those without any hassles (I threw out the
Epson and Canon printers because they just didn't play as well).
The main thing I need to do with each new printer is make sure the
connection is setup correctly otherwise it can have problems
scanning, throwing a lot of "Device not found" IO errors. To get
them both working (printer and scanner) I create separate printer
connections for both. Here is a link to the screenshots showing
the different connections:

Scanner Setup

Both connections use the same driver but I find doing it this way
gets both working flawlessly every time. There are other ways to
do it I'm sure but this works for me. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Rob

At home, I have a HP Photosmart Premium C310 that has WiFi, I had
no issues connecting to it and printing from it. It's got
internet connectivity as well, so worst case scenario and you
can't connect to it, you can just email whatever you needed to
print to it and it will print it (after a 1-2min delay). I've
emailed it Word documents and PDFs that printed fine, but it
doesn't like OpenOffice docs unless they're saved in PDF or Word
format, which is kind of annoying.

I did reply Jim but I included a couple of screenshots and it
appears my reply is being held for the mods to approve. Not
sure if you can include images in this forum? If it bounces
I'll resend you the reply with a link. Short answer - HP is
the only way to go for Linux printing and wireless is no
problem, I've been using their printers for 5 years on Linux.

I haven't used any wireless printers, but i recommend
checking out the OpenPrinting database:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/database/databaseintro
In general, HP seem to be pretty good with providing info to
Linux developers, but there are some exceptions.
