The proposed path does not actually completely solve the problem. If you happen to be on a little endian machine the loaded header will still be unusable.
In particular, it will no print the entries in random order even if the dat file has been produced strfile -r flag (which doesn't work as I signaled in Bug #2171310). The problem is that strfile saves the data in "network" format (bigendian) but unstr doesn't take this into account. I attach a patch for this (a previous version of this comment contained the wrong patch) ** Patch added: "unstr.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fortune-mod/+bug/1961954/+attachment/6010150/+files/unstr.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1961954 Title: unstr (package fortune-mod) incorrectly reads data file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fortune-mod/+bug/1961954/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
