I updated the description - I think the reporter has made it clear that
this bug happens with or without usplash. There are other bugs around
for usplash trouble. Can somebody confirm that the computer is totally
frozen, not just that X is locked up, for instance by ping over the
network, disk drive LED activity etc?
Out of the more than 20 commenters here, I think only 4-5 have the same
problem as Scott and Quash: X700 and X600 going black are two other
bugs. usplash breaking consoles a third one. The combination of these
looks like this bug, but is not the same.
This is most likely a "ati" driver bug, and should be taken from there.
Problems with other cards or other drivers should be filed in separate
bugs.
Please only change assigned-to and affected-package if you know what you
are doing. Otherwise there is less chance that the right developers see
this bug.
