I can confirm this, sytem is a E6600, Gigabyte 965P-DS4, 8800GT, Intrepid Beta as of October 8th.
linux-image-2.6.27-5-generic nvidia-glx-177.76-0ubuntu1 With linux-image-2.6.27-4-generic I sometimes got the Ubuntu splash screen, sometimes the system showed me console output.
