Thanks Stephen. Unfortunately, there is no trace of the crash in your
log. I know you said that the machine completely dies, but I want you to
try the following just on the offchance it produces something useful.
Can you reproduce the crash from the console? If so, could you try the
following:

sudo su
echo 8 > /proc/sys/kernel/printk
exit
.....repeat steps to recreate the freeze here....

Does anything appear on the console? If so, please take a photograph
incase it doesn't get written to disk, then try the following:

Alt+SysRq+t - this will output all the tasks to the console if the
machine is sufficiently alive. There will be too much info to fit on the
screen if it works, and is only really useful if it gets written to
disk.

Alt+SysRq+p - this will give an indication of the current state of the
CPU (if it works). Please photograph any results. If it works, it would
be useful doing it 2 or 3 times.
