In reply to Ralf Krauklis, I can confirm that my laptop also has the
bluetooth PCI-Express card fitted.

I gave up getting Hardy to work and jumped straight to Intrepid at
around the Alpha 3 release.  And so far, everything is working fine.
Suspend to RAM works fine 99% of the time - I still get the occasional
time when it refuses to wake up but that is so infrequent that I can
live with it.
