Even worse, now that I tested it more thoroughly. After the 2nd standby/resume 
cycle, the display stayed blank, even though X/KDE seem to have been back, 
judged by the LED activity. Alt-Ctrl-Backspace got it back, but in the wrong 
resolution. After that, all further standby/resume cycles worked fine.
[Update: maybe this was related to the fact that I still had the 
CPU-shutdown-workaround installed. After I removed it, it seems to 
standby/resume much more stable. Still wifi turned off after certain cycles, 
and monitor detection popup.]

Suspend/resume cycles seem to be completely stable now, beside the
flickering.

I've seen then touchpad issues too with my first testing after the
kernel update, but not anymore.
