Not sure if I chose the right status, but the truth is that I worked out the issue. My MP3s, along with everything in My Documents on my internal HDD, were encrypted by a program called Credent Mobile Guardian. I moved them while in Windows to my external FAT32 partition, and the same program decrypted them while the transfer took place. I'd moved a couple while in Linux, and of course they hadn't been decrypted. Tricky!
