I just tried an experiment that might be useful. My X31 laptop running Jaunty does not display the mythfrontend fonts. However, if I "ssh -X" onto the laptop from my desktop (which is running Intrepid and using the restricted nvidia driver) and run mythfrontend, the fonts display fine on my desktop.
Say with me.... Now if I "ssh -X" from my Jaunty laptop onto my Intrepid desktop and run mythfrontend. I get the same no-front display problem as I do with the local version. I believe this tells us what we already suspected. The problem is with the graphic drivers not mythtv.; as the Intrepid version does not work when displayed on the Jaunty machine.
