In general, we *will* overwrite whatever you change in the meantime when
running userconfig. The data is read on startup of userconfig,
intermittent changes will be disregarded (not only changing the
password).

Please accept that your usecase is just not supported. And you are
_definitely_ using two applications for the same purpose, namely
userconfig and passwd. Reopening the bug also will not suddenly make
your usecase more valid. I've now added a call to clear the password
field, so it shouldn't be saved twice. Please note, that your usecase is
still _not_supported_.

If the password would be set to empty, however, that would be a valid
bug (it works fine for me).
