** Description changed:

After the upgrade to Jaunty it seems that the power management isn't
working serious anymore. My PC should switch off the monitor after 5
minutes and shut down after 10. But after fifteen minutes without doing
anything and without having any application like totem or vlc or others
launched still nothing happens. So I wonder why my Ubuntu didn't switch
off the monitor and didn't turn off.

  Maybe it's because I deactivated a screensaver? I didn't expect the
system to not shut down then. I just don't want a screensaver to appear,
because this is a waste of energy.

UPDATE: It seems to work random. Yesterday everything worked fine and
today the mointor was switched off, but the pc didn't turn off.
+
+ UPDATE2: Today something strange happened. I was watching a film via
+ WebTV and the monitor faded off, okay I thought and moved the mouse,
+ clicked some opened applications. But then after about 5 minutes, the PC
+ switched off, although the monitor wasn't faded out and I was moving the
+ mouse.
