Thomas, to change the setting of sound in your computer you can use the main 
menu (usually on the top of screen) chose System, then Preferences, then Sound. 
In the window, which opens, in the bottom you will see "Default mixer tracks". 
Change "device" to HDA Intel (Alsa mixer). 
Above this part in the same window you see "Sound capture" and ..."test". Check 
if sound recording works well (press "test" and say something in microphone. 
You must here your voice playing back).
Then open skype options, find "sound devices" and change "sound in", "sound 
out", "ring" to HDA Intel. This solved problem for me.
