I've had a closer look at this, and here's what I've found out: 1) Import to Launchpad
The upstream PO files from the kde-l10n-xx packages contain the following (similar) strings: #: dolphinpart.cpp:197 msgctxt "@action:inmenu Tools" msgid "Open &Terminal" msgstr "" Corresponding to https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/kdebase/+pots/dolphin/ca/83/+translate in Launchpad (for the Catalan language), which has also got the correct msgctxt. #: dolphinmainwindow.cpp:1241 msgctxt "@action:inmenu Tools" msgid "Open Terminal" msgstr "" Corresponding to https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/kdebase/+pots/dolphin/ca/111/+translate in Launchpad (for the Catalan language), which has also got the correct msgctxt. With this I believe we can say that the Launchpad templates are up to date and correctly imported. 2) Export from Launchpad There are two steps involved here: 2.1) Direct export of the PO files from Launchpad These are the source PO files which are used to create the language packs. Requesting an export from Launchpad showed that the exported PO files (and the template) contain both the above strings: With this I believe we can say that the PO files are correctly exported from Launchpad 2.2) Language package (language-pack-kde-xx) creation by langpack-o-matic Language packs are created by fetching the exported PO files from Launchpad and processing them through langpack-o-matic to create the actual packages. Looking at the sources of the language-pack-kde-ca shows that only one of the above strings is present in the final dolphin.po file: #: dolphinpart.cpp:186 msgctxt "@action:inmenu Tools" msgid "Open &Terminal" msgstr "Obre un &terminal" Which, assuming that the string comes from dolphinpart.cpp, might be the cause of the problem. Also note that the source line (186) differs from the one in the original PO file (197). That should not cause any problem, I'm just pointing it out, as it seemed strange to me. 3) Notes I've tested using the upstream file from the kde-l10n-ca package in my system and it indeed solved the issue (the string appeared translated). Here's what I did: $ sudo mv /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/dolphin.mo /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/dolphin.mo.orig $ msgfmt kde-l10n-ca-4.3.0/messages/kdebase/dolphin.po -o dolphin.mo $ sudo cp dolphin.mo /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/dolphin.mo $ msgunfmt /usr/share/locale-langpack/ca/LC_MESSAGES/dolphin.mo | grep -C 2 Terminal msgctxt "@action:inmenu Tools" msgid "Open &Terminal" msgstr "Obre un &terminal" msgctxt "@action:inmenu Tools" msgid "Open Terminal" msgstr "Obre un terminal" What seemed strange, though, is that altough the accelerator is on the 't' from 'terminal' in the translation, in the dolphin UI it appears on the 'O' from 'Obre' ** Also affects: langpack-o-matic Importance: Undecided Status: New -- "Open Terminal" string in Dolphin is untranslated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
