Another "me too"; I've got an Atheros AR242x, and I kept getting the
same messages:

I wanted to mention that this happened (apparently) spontaneously; I
have no idea what got the card into that state, but the cold-reboot
option worked for me.  If someone else out there is wondering what the
heck to do to fix this, it's definitely worth a try.

I also suspect that "ath5k phy0: can't reset hardware (-11)" is a
different problem than "ath5k phy0: can't reset hardware (-5)".  It's
hard to tell from here, but it seems like solutions for one aren't
addressing the other very well.
