In dmesg, at 2271.794995, I unpluged the converter (it was well detected by lsusb, but no ttyUSB0 was created), and repluged it one line later, at 2273.512192. the PL2303 was not seen before in the dmesg.
In this case I used kernel 2.6.30 from a ppa (for ext4 stability), but the problem was the same with official 2.6.28 kernel. linux-image-2.6.30-020630-generic 2.6.30-020630 This is why for I need to unplug/replug before X start. ** Attachment added: "dmesg, 2271.794995" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31459906/dmesg.txt -- X.org doesn't hotplug wacom serial tablets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
