Booted on 2.6.20.8 and attempted to install v4 firmware. bcm43xx complained saying that the driver was either invalid or unsupported
checked dmesg output which loudly insisted that my firmware is too old and that i must upgrade to version 4.x. But it seems my wireless card does not support v4 firmware at all, it cannot be installed. According to this link posted by Ugo, https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail /bcm43xx-dev/2007-February/004005.html, my wireless card is will not accept the V4 firmware - it's too old. I have a BCM4306 rev 02. Apparently at least rev 05 is needed: "> There is a revision number which is the key for v4 suppport. You'll need > at least revision number 0x4 there for d80211 support. The older > revisions 0x2 and 0x3 have to use the softmac stack."
