I seem to be suffering from the same problem. On my desktop with wired ethernet
connection I seem to have a problem with DNS:
- I get a timeout when I ping a host, e.g. ping google.com
- I cannot resolve the address when I do host google.com
- I can resolve the address when I do host google.com ip_of_my_dns
- the info field of the network-manager reports the correct dns servers
- it works as expected after I have restarted network-manager

I have no problems on my laptop which is connected wirelessly to the
same router and thus is using the same settings.
