I have found that if I restart the system after booting, the modem
connection works fine. However, I find restarting one extra time is a
bit silly. I reported this bug quite some time ago, before I upgraded
from 9.04 to 9.10 (in November), but the problem still remains. What was
wrong with the old version of Network manager, since it needed to be
modified?
