I have experienced the crash when working with both Writer and Calc (or both at the same time--they both crash together).
No, I have never seen any prompt to report a problem. Sometimes, OO crashes in the background and when I try to Alt-Tab over to it, it's simply gone. More often, when I switch to it, it will run for a second and then crash, telling me that there has been a problem and that it will try to save all of my documents for recovery. I will see what I can do about the Backtrace, although any info you can provide will be helpful.
