Adding the line "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" to "/etc/modprobe.d /alsa-base.conf" and switching the capture device from "Front Mic" to "Int Mic" using alsamixer got the internal mic on my new Sony Vaio CW- series working. Annoyingly, every time Pulseaudio is restarted (including reboot of course) the capture device is reset to "Front Mic" and the internal microphone seizes to work until the setting is manually changed to "Int Mic" again.
I did not install the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic package. -- Internal Mic does not work out of the box with Sony Vaio VGN-FW170J https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478309 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
