Well Steve, first thanks for the attention. You all seem to confirm we were right to maintain as a bug since this is not happening to a majority of users and could remain unnoticed.
Sorry if we lack more info but we were already quite lucky to "bypass" the issue and be able to pinpoint on plymouth. AFAIC I ve made on Monday/Tuesday (2 days ago) a totally clean upgrade from 9.10 using update-manager -d, downloaded 1,7 G and restarted. After i could init with bin/bash and network with dhclient eth0, i could do another apt-get dist-upgrade which download another 178 M (despite my really fresh upgrade), which included an update to plymouth as i could notice. So i guess i have really the lastest plymouth version. Alt-Fn wont work. Vanilla kernel options (tried xvesaforce, nodmraid, nomodeset, noapic etc... at first to no avail so i was back to standard options, especially no vga option whatsoever ). My laptop features an ATI Mobile 700 card. -- Lucid beta 1 won' t boot, plymouth launch broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/552046 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
