Hello ! I faced exactly the same problem yesterday with a no-brand laptop with exactly the same WiFi card. (Intel 2200BG)
In fact, some of the kernel related packages were not installed (they were updated this morning), so maybe it might come from inconsistencies between kernel packages (some kernel packages installed and some not installed) I had no time to test WiFi after the update of this morning, but I'll check tonight if the problem is solved ...
