I just bought a new Sony VPCCW21FX laptop with this wireless card in it. Running the 2.6.32 kernel I was experience the same issues. I have also compiled and installed the latest ath9k driver from linuxwireless.org, and I'm still having issues. Everything will be working for for a few seconds, then I'll have several seconds of lag, then everything will work for another minute, then 20 seconds of lag, disconnections, etc.
However the odd thing is this. If I have an application open that is constantly sending/receiving data (torrent application, for example) everything works fine. Even if I throttle my down/up speeds down to 10KB/s, that constant connection keeps everything else alive. I hope this helps. If anybody wants me to test anything let me know.
