I was running Kubuntu 9.10 without issues. I upgraded to Lucid 10.04
using the update manager. After the update was completed, I could no
longer log into the system using KDE. I can login via GNOME without
issue. When I try to login to KDE, the Oxygen panel displays, I see the
disk icon then it bounces me back to the login prompt.

I have performed the same steps as above without success. I have also
performed the following steps:

- renamed my .kde folder in my home directory hoping that it would fix the
problem, no luck!
- ran apt-get install --reinstall and it comes up clean
- ran apt-get install kdebase-workspace, says it is the newest version ( saw
this in another post ), comes up as installed

System is AMD 9850 Quad CPU
Mobo: ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe SLI
Graphics: Nvidia 9800GTX+ , 2 cards in SLI mode
Memory: 8GB

Even though the upgrade method was different, the issue appears to be
the same. Please let me know what commands to run in order to provide
technical details.
