Just a note to say, I had this issue on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 (recently upgraded from 9.10) and found a solution for my specific case.
I discovered that I had some software installed outside of regular package management (in this case a BOINC server) which had two scripts: /usr/local/bin/start and /usr/local/bin/status . These were on my PATH when running 'sudo apt-get install nfs-common' .. and were messing up the post-installation scripts. Ensuring that the 'start' and 'status' from upstart were on my PATH first instead of these other scripts solved the issue. -- package nfs-common 1:1.2.0-4ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570317 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
