I too think that lucid with all it's problems is looking like beta that is why i use maverick right now it's installer(ubiquity)is much better but it still have problems with Ubuntu splashscreen and that is that after installing fglrx there is no logo at all just a purple screen at boot only with xorg which is what i use now because there is no fglrx driver for xserver 1.8 it's working fine let's hope 10.10 final version would not have this problem with fglrx and plymouth.
