Oops forgot to mention that I'm running the default kernel (2.6.32-23-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP x86_64), and nVidia's binary driver 256.35 x86_64 with 32bit compatibility libraries, manually installed. The same issues seem to be present with previous versions of the driver, including Ubuntu's packaged versions (195.xx). This issue has been around ever since I've been using Lucid, which was 2 weeks prior to release.
