I signed up for Launchpad just to reply to this thread so that I can vote against Baidu.
Although I no longer use Ubuntu as my desktop OS (my server is still powered by it), I root against setting Baidu as the _default_ search engine for it. Others have said enough about the evilness of this distasteful company in this thread, and I agree with most of them.
