The nv driver will not allow any resolution over 640x480 on my GeForce4
MX Integrated with either my 19" or my 17" CRT. I might be able to fix
this by looking up the specs for the monitor and manually setting it in
the xorg.conf, but this is beyond the abilities of a normal user. I have
always just installed the nvidia driver and it has worked perfectly. My
point is that the nv driver has problems that are not easy to work
around. This makes the nvidia driver critical for normal operation.
Unless you are a geek who started with linux in RH6 and has used suse,
gentoo, slackware and now ubuntu, and can compile your own kernel.
