Negative results :( I tried again, making sure to run "sudo update-grub", after adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_sleep=nonvs" to /etc/default/grub. Screen still does not turn on after suspending my Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 (BIOS version A07)
