I'm fairly certain this is a duplicate of some other bug - other people
seem to be compianing, but it seems to affect some cd drves more than
others.

I get this when I try to mount /dev/sdb
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,

       missing codepage or other error

       (could this be the ide device where you in fact use

       ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)

       in some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

       dmesg | tail  or so

$ dmesg | tail

I can boot from the feisty live cd, but when I choose the default option
(something like start or install ubuntu (with quiet splash removed) it
starts, but the cd drive spins really loudly, ata2: tries the same
things over and over, telling me to be patient, and eventually I have to
eject the cd and turn off the computer.

Booting from the hard disk also does this, but when I eject the cd, it
continues to boot. I just can't use the cd drive.
