You have to copy the firmware file by yourself into the location specified; this is official Visioneer driver file, and its licence disables it from being included in the simple-scan (or, 'sane' to be precise) distribution. You can download the driver for the scanner for free from the Visioneer site; you'll probably have to install the driver in wine first, and then copy the file from ~/.wine/disk_c/Program Files/Visioneer/Driver .
