@Will:
Mostly it is a problem with the monitor Samsung 2493hm which does not suppord
EDID properly. But that is the problem with most of Samsung's monitors and
ddccontrol supports them somehow (I don't know, how - maybe by some
pre-defined signatures for mapping "random" EDID to proper data?)
So it is in my opinion a bug in ddccontrol which should (somehow ) support that
monitor. I provided all the information needed and on request can provide even
more. I'm not a C developer but I am skilled enough to run some tests if any
defeloper needs a testing assistance.

@Fred:
Your XML does not work for me. I don't remember for what reason, most problably
because it links to another XML which I didn't posess. I use Ubuntu 10.04, if
it helps you. (But it might be another reason - many months passed and I am not
100% sure).

Anyway - this is the only real bug which remained, it is very strange
for me that any of the developers didn't manage to find little time to
solve it given all the data in this thread and readiness of users' to
assist. I understand that developers work in their free time but if they
work they should pay their attention - few years passed...
