Thanks for your response, artemeas. I have read the whole Archlinux thread that you have linked and heard the front center speaker for the first time with the "speaker-test -D default -c6 -twav" command that you have posted there :o)
However, the subwoofer still doesn't emit any sound as it was muted or something. I don't know why is doesn't work for me as it does for you. Maybe it is caused by another packages' versions or it simply works in Archlinux and in Ubuntu not? Regarding the models, I have done exactly the same trying every single one. With the same result, only, in my case, I haven't tried alsamixer - I did it only for the default model. As it doesn't seem to be anyhow useful, reporting bugs on distributions' bug trackers, it is probably the right time to report this issue upstream as it was advised in the Archlinux thred. Could you please report it in the ALSA bug tracker as it seems to me that you have much more experience and have done deeper testing than me? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/802660 Title: ALC670 5.1 surround not recognized properly on Acer Aspire 8943G To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/802660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
