As for enlarging the login box dynamically… We've had a very reductionist apporach to the login experience. Minimalistic layout, alignment with Unity, no user pictures. There's richness to the behaviour though – the login carousel moves vertically, in other words, it's all on rails and very stable. Also, the background changes with delay to match the desktop of the user in focus. Early on we discovered that the login is the one space where we can display user's wallpaper without much clutter. That's one of the main ideas behind this concept and something we want hold on to.
