Perhaps not. At this point it appears there's missing driver support for your touchpad. Adding driver support can be a difficult reverse- engineering effort, as often protocol specifications for touchpads are not made available.
It would be helpful if you could at a minimum identify who is the manufacturer of your touchpad (unfortunately this information cannot be easily probed from touchpads). One way to do this would be to boot into the copy of Windows that was (presumably) provided by the manufacturer, open the device manager, and see what driver is in use for the touchpad, which will usually tell you who made the touchpad. Another option would be to go to the manufacturer's website and find the touchpad driver for your model and see if the manufacturer is identified, or inquire with the manufacturer directly. If we can confidently identify the manufacturer of the touchpad there's a chance that only simple driver changes are required, but no guarantee. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/888531 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 doesn't recognize my touchpad.
