I'm not sure what to do but was under the impression it had been reported as a Kernel bug, perhaps I misread a comment suggesting it should be reported? I do feel it is something that needs investigation as it may be related to some other things that don't seem to be seen now, (my laptop has a firewire port which used to be listed as "not used" as I haven't got anything that used it but it isn't in the current list of devices/drivers). I will report it if you can tell me what is needed and who I should contact.
