@dssj  Thanks for keeping this post alive.

  Adding to my 5/2011 post:  1) My U43F is dual-boot and the Windows
partition suspends just fine; it's a real suspend/sleep with little or
no drain on the batteries. 2)This machine has amazing battery life and
can normally go at least 5-6+ hours when I'm working in Ubuntu, but if I
forget and close the lid, whatever goes on in 'suspend' with the disk
drives and fans causes it to very quickly drain the batteries.
