A few comments: 1.) I checked a few more /var/log/syslog* and /var/log/kern.log* files. It is always process name "plasma-desktop" which gets hits. 2.) I never had this problem as long as I ran Ubuntu - but I decided to go away from Ubuntu because of the Unity desktop. I could not handle this new desktop design. 3.) Somestimes the system bombs out after loading 100% of the saved pages from the swap file. It immediately falls back in to the BIOS and the reboots normally.
