Got it solved resetting compiz and unity (unity --reset) - Logging back to Unity 2D (disabling auto-hide behavior of Launcher) and rebooting. - unity --reset again In a multi monitor environment, resetting unity won't fix it untill you unplug the external monitor from laptop and redo the procedure!
