** Description changed: + + Possible testcase extracted from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/106199/comments/4 + + --- in one terminal + mkfifo /tmp/test.html + cat > /tmp/test.html + + -- in another terminal + firefox /tmp/test.html + ---- + Binary package hint: firefox firefox 2.0.0.3+1-0ubuntu2 I have ad adsl 4mbit connection that sometimes has bandwidth problems and behaves like a 56k or less. In these moments when I try to load pages, firefox eats 10% of the cpu and Xorg 50%, and the processor speed is maxed to 100% (1.6 Ghz), while waiting for packets to arrive (I think it does ad active wait). This lasts when the page is completely loaded: sometimes 2-3 minutes of heavy load! This is always reproducible, only if the tab is which is loading is selected. When it is deselected the cpu is no more used!
