I think you may be better served with a new bug, this was quite specific to 
nvidia hardware that couldn't boot to a live session or installer normally but 
could if removing splash or using nomodeset.
It all instances of users affected once installed there was no issue at all, 
only occurred  on the live session, & again in most instances the nvidia 
adapter supported 3d thru nouveau or nvidia drivers

(possibly some hardware that benefited from this did not support 3d thru
nouveau though I'm not aware of any reports of such

There is a fair amount of reports that GeForce FX Go5200 does Not have 3d or 
proper 3d support for unity.  How it would fair in lubuntu I've no clue but 
again not related to this bug. One such report on Debian, specific also to 
powerpc64, there are many more ...
