All: Launchpad Bug Reports are not a place for discussion. If you want to discuss certain features, bugs, or workarounds without actively working on the problem there are other, better, venues for that.
This venue is for diagnosing and addressing the problem at hand, not general discussion area. It is pretty clear what the issue is here and how to attack it. A developer on the Ubuntu One team will need to address it, or someone from the community will need to submit a patch for review.
