Congratulations I can confirm that it works with simple scan and xsane out of the box on Ubuntu 12.10 Tryed it with GIMP. It recognized the scanner and seemed to scan when scanning directly (scan or scan as layer) but froze. Also when xsane is called from gimp , preview or scan acts as if command to scanner not sent.
