Franco, huh so you get that system crash every time you run apport-collect? That sounds like possibly another bug in apport-collect. We'll deal with that one later. The way to test the latest mainline kernel is actually pretty simple.
1) Head over to http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.9-rc5-raring/ and download the headers, image and image extra for your architecture (i386 for 32 bit, amd64 for 64 bit) 2) in a terminal we are now going to install those packages using dpkg. Assuming you downloaded them to your Downloads folder run this command sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/linux-*-3.9.*.deb 3) Reboot and select the new 3.9 kernel! Once you do that, if you could do the apport-collect 1164145 and report on whether it works or not that'd be great :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1164145 Title: 12.04 LTS - System freezes when user logs in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1164145/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
