Afer following your instructions, this is what locale gets: administrador@pitblau-laptop:~$ locale LANG=es_ES.utf8 LANGUAGE=es_ES:es:en_GB:en LC_CTYPE="es_ES.utf8" LC_NUMERIC="es_ES.utf8" LC_TIME="es_ES.utf8" LC_COLLATE="es_ES.utf8" LC_MONETARY="es_ES.utf8" LC_MESSAGES="es_ES.utf8" LC_PAPER="es_ES.utf8" LC_NAME="es_ES.utf8" LC_ADDRESS="es_ES.utf8" LC_TELEPHONE="es_ES.utf8" LC_MEASUREMENT="es_ES.utf8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="es_ES.utf8" LC_ALL=
So, let's hope the issue is solved (I'll report if the issue persists when upgrading to 13.10). Thanks! To be sure, I have another machine working OK, which I'm going to upgrade to the release version next week. I have had the same problem of corrupt locale-archive after updates in the past. It has this /etc/default/locale antonio@antonio-desktop:~$ cat /etc/default/locale LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LANGUAGE="en" LC_NUMERIC="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_TIME="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_NAME="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="es_ES.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="es_ES.UTF-8" (English language with Spanish numbers, dates,...). Is this OK or the LC_* fields should be removed? THe locale output for that machine is: antonio@antonio-desktop:~$ locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_TIME=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 LC_PAPER=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_NAME=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=es_ES.UTF-8 LC_ALL= -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663694 Title: apt-get fails with LANG=es_ES.utf8, succeeds with LANG=C To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/langpack-locales/+bug/663694/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
