seeing that the ubuntu 13.10 live cd gives different performance, I started to try other live cds debian wheezy no way, worse than ubuntu BUT !!!! open suse works PERFECT, not only from linux but also from dos programs under dosemu which is the main reason to use this printer specifically, I could use the parallel printer without problem with this live cd and software:
open suse Release 12.3 (Dartmouth) 64-bit Kernel Linux 3.7.10-1.1-desktop GNOME 3.6.2 CUPS 1.5.4 dosemu-1.4.0.1 the printer was recognized immediately and everything works like a charm from the first moment for me this is a proof that there is something wrong inside debian and printers handling further: the hp deskjet was recognized together with the usb to parallel and both work fine -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249627 Title: usb to parallel prints only once To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1249627/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
